Michael Burton – and Lightweight Theatre – is currently preparing to tour his two-hander play during 2017 THIS WAR IS NOT INEVITABLE (THE THREEFOLD SOCIAL ORGANISM THEATRE PROJECT). A play for two actors written by Michael Hedley Burton and performed by Michael Burton and Ryan Kouroukis.
This War is Not Inevitable is about the birth of the idea of the Threefold Social Organism between 1917-1919. It commemorates the fact that it is now 100 years since Rudolf Steiner first described his vision of the Threefold Social Organism (Threefold Social Order). His efforts in 1917 to rescue Germany from a devastating World War failed. However his description of the way society needed to be restructured at that time is as relevant today as it was then.
Many will have seen the play when it was performed in various regions during a tour of New Zealand in May and June. Since then it has been performed in Australia, the UK and on the Continent. Steiner told audiences in Dornach always to go to performances by the eurythmy stage group when the show was new and after it returned, for the show will have been enriched and become different.
This War is not Inevitable will be performed on June 2, 2017 from 7pm to 8pm at the Taikura Rudolf Steiner School Hall in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay.
