Auckland Saturday 30th July 2016
The Council has decided to separate the Annual General Meeting for 2016 from the Conference this year. There are a number of reasons for this including a later than normal conference – 21st – 24th October – but also a question of space for the Society. The conference is pitched towards the Anthroposophical movement and the Annual General Meeting is placed in an evening during the conference. Sometimes, as was the case last year, the time given for discussion around the Society is abandoned as the evening is late and time has already gone into discussion of points raised. The Council is taking an initiative to give the AGM its own space, space devoted to the Society alone.
We realise there are some barriers to this that we are addressing, such as cost, timing, and logistics. To alleviate these concerns we are having the AGM in a time slot that allows most people to fly into and out of Auckland on the same day (if that is your wish) and we are giving you notice now as there are currently relatively low airfares to Auckland for that day. If cost is still a barrier you can apply to the Tinderbox fund for support.
The Agenda (full content to be confirmed but the timelines are firm)
9.30am – Free Shuttle provided by the Society leaves from Auckland airport for the AGM
10.00am – Morning tea on arrival
10.15am – Talk and work in groups on world themes that speak about the direction of the Society
12.00 – 12.45 – Lunch provided by the Society
12.45 – 2.15pm Annual General Meeting of the Society
2.15pm – 3.00pm – Break and time to converse with others
3.00pm – 4.00pm – Presentations from some new initiatives
4.00pm – Shuttle leaves for the airport
4.30pm – Shuttle arrives at the airport
We are looking forward to being able to dedicate a day to the Anthroposophical Society and the AGM and we encourage members considering coming to the AGM to make an early commitment to flights now.
With best wishes, Trisha, Silke & Noel for the Council
