ASNZ Christchurch Earthquake Trauma Appeal

The Society has set up a fund to help children and families traumatised by the earthquake in Christchurch. We’re working with

  • the Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School
  • Hohepa Christchurch
  • Helios Integrative Medical Centre
  • the Weleda Trust
  • anthroposophical nurses and therapists in New Zealand

to bring services which will help with the soul damage that such an event brings. Physical needs are the first but then many remain badly affected, especially children. We want your help in supporting this.

We will fund

  • Oilings, massage, art and other therapies for children and young people traumatised by the earthquake.
  • Respite care for badly affected families – time away, additional support at home, care for parents as well as their children.

But this is a rapidly changing situation and we will consider other needs as they arise as long as

  • We are not duplicating the work of others such as the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal which are focusing especially on the physical damage to people and homes – if you want to support them, the links will take you to these excellent agencies.
  • It is connected with anthroposophical work which adds something of value to what’s needed.

The money raised will be managed by Mike Sargent, a Christchurch-based doctor; Mark Thornton, treasurer of the Federation of Rudolf Steiner Waldorf Schools in New Zealand; Mary Green, manager of the Weleda Trust; and Glen Saunders, Christchurch-based and treasurer of the Anthroposophical Society in New Zealand.

Every dollar given will go to these activities. The Society will pay any costs and report back on what the fund has achieved.

Please give if you can. Here’s how to do it.
