Self and Professional Development Through Speech and Drama

Professional Training Course in ‘Creative Speech and the Art Drama’

Involving the Whole Human Being in Body, Soul and Spirit - In a Process of Personal Transformation

This course, based on the work of Rudolf Steiner, is being planned for commencement in 2012 in New Zealand

Self Development and Professional Development through Speech and Drama, out of the impulse pioneered by Rudolf Steiner and Marie Steiner

Professional Training Course in ‘Creative Speech and the Art Drama’ - To be established in New Zealand in 2012. Expressions of interest in this 3 – 4 year Professional Training Course taught in several blocks per year are now invited. (Auditions to be held in October 2011)

Background:
One of the last lecture series Rudolf Steiner gave, in 1925, the year he died, was the course in ‘Creative Speech and the Art of Drama’. This was a unique new direction in the history of drama, going back to the wisdom-filled origins in Ancient Greece, still directly linked to the Mystery Temples, particularly the Mystery of the Word in Ephesus. This impulse was carried with artistic genius and dedication by Marie Steiner, and a formal training was established at the ‘Goetheanum’, Switzerland. Since then, several schools have been established and run for many years in different parts of the world. Today, not so much of this work is still happening. Here in New Zealand, there are now a number of experienced colleagues qualified in this work.

Penelope Snowdon-Lait, who has lived and worked in Christchurch since 1982, and Astrid Anderson, in Hawke’s Bay since 1984, who have both still studied under students of Marie Steiner’s in Europe, together with Norbert Mulholland, from the ‘Harkness Studio’ in Australia, working in Wellington, are preparing to establish a Professional Training Course in Creative Speech and the Art of Drama, envisaged to begin in 2012.

With a background of carrying and teaching in professional training, Penelope and Astrid are endeavouring to create a suitable vessel for the future of this impulse, and we hope that over time other capable colleagues who also feel this calling, will be able to join us and share in the many tasks involved in nurturing this work. We are committed to holding a space where working together can be fostered.

In the meantime a course is planned for April 2011:
The Spirit of the Word
5-Day Introductory Course in ‘Creative Speech and the Art of Drama’
18th – 22nd April 2011

More information about the Professional Training Course will be available shortly.
