Rudolf Steiner
Rudolf Steiner was born on February 27th, 1861 in what was then Austria and is Croatia today. He was a philosopher, scientist and leading esoteric researcher of the twentieth century who developed Anthroposophy, which he called the "Science of the Spirit".
His combination of clear conceptual expression with immense spiritual perception created ground-breaking research in the nature of the human being, karma and reincarnation, spiritual cosmology, and occult knowledge. His work resulted in new perspectives in many areas of life, including, medicine, pedagogy, agriculture, and the arts. The artistic research he carried out established new artistic currents in architecture, painting, sculpture, drama and eurythmy.
These have entered into the spiritual heritage of the present time and live in today's cultural life as an impulse and inspiration.
During his life, Rudolf Steiner gave lectures throughout Europe as well as writing books, and his complete works include 40 volumes of writings and about 270 volumes of transcripts of his approximately 6000 lectures.
Rudolf Steiner died on March 30th, 1925 in Dornach, Switzerland leaving the fruits of his spiritual research visible in art, social forms and practical initiatives.
