2009 Annual Conference in Christchurch

The Annual Conference of the Anthroposophical Society in New Zealand will be held in Christchurch from 3rd-6th July next year. Foundation Stone. The title of this conference is  Transforming the Changed Conditions of Our Time. In recent years, thanks to the foresight and initiative of Hans van Florenstein Mulder, we have experienced a wealth of overseas speakers and the contributions they have brought to our conferences. The theme of destiny was a thread that ran through the last three years; ‘Awakening to One’s Destiny’, ‘The Future of the Earth’ and ‘The Spiritual Impulse of Anthroposophy and the Foundation Stone’, the destiny of humanity, the earth and the Anthroposophical Society.

The council wishes to continue this thread by suggesting that over the next three years the central theme for the conferences remains ‘The Foundation Stone’. This provides time and opportunity for all members to actively engage in strengthening the life of the Anthroposophical Society by consolidating, deepening and actively working with this theme and the verses.

In that the Foundation Stone verses speak directly to human beings working with the spiritual world and our responsibility to world karma, we suggest there be a parallel with its orientation to the world and its needs. Over the last century, in just about every sphere of life, changes have been dramatic and we human beings have the possibility to actively engage with the world and the challenges of our time: thus, the conference title will be Transforming the Changed Conditions of Our Time.

Conferences provide a venue for sharing knowledge, experience and friendship; they can also be a source of inspiration for life and future impulses. Next year, we look forward to working with members and drawing from the strengths of people within New Zealand to provide the inspiration, leadership and speakers for the conference.
