Asia/Pacific Fund

The Asia-Pacific Initiatives Support Fund was established in 1997 to assist a teacher from the Bangkok school to travel to Mumbai in order to attend the pedagogical conference in Mumbai (India).

The fund started as a small private initiative and managed to raise the airfare due to gifts from various members of the Anthroposophical Society in New Zealand and with the support of the council of the Anthroposophical Society in New Zealand.

The decision made in Mumbai to work towards starting teacher preparation for Waldorf/Rudolf Steiner schools in India, and the Philippines made it clear that more funds will be needed in the coming years to support these initiatives.

Since 1999 these teacher seminars are being held. The interest in attending them is high. Experienced teachers from many countries give their time freely, but there are still costs to be met. Also many new initiatives are needing our support.

The future work of the Asia-Pacific Initiatives Support Fund includes:

1)     To support newly established kindergartens , schools ,curative homes and biodynamic farms.

2)     To provide travel funds for teachers working in the Asia-Pacific region to attend pedagogical conferences.

 3)     To support new teacher seminars.

4)     To assist individual students in meeting their study costs.

This fund is a gift fund and since 1997 many grants have been made. Travel costs to the annual pedagogical conference, the Waldorf school in Nepal, a curative initiative in Vietnam, study costs for teachers are some of the ways the fund has been used.
