All Waldorf Schools and Kindergartens plan their curriculum and daily rhythms according to Rudolf Steiner's researches that the human being is a threefold being of spirit, soul and body. Each child will unfold capacities during three developmental stages of their school life; early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence. The first stage of early childhood takes place within the kindergarten and the home.

During their first seven years of life children "grow" their physical body and organs from within to create a body through which the soul and spirit of the individual incarnating being can be revealed.

Small children unite all external impressions with their internal world, and they have a wonderful power of imitation. The Waldorf Kindergarten aims to create an environment that protects the child's physical development while providing good human 'role models' that allow them to learn from life. Children model their behaviour on the examples they see around them. Play is an important ingredient in a Waldorf Kindrgarten; it is in play that children develop skills on the physical level, increase their imagination and launch the powers of initiative and creativity, which are so important in later life.

In the kindergarten's grounds children can experience the wonders of nature, and the possibility of real adventures, whilst inside the joy in a story or song or maybe a puppet play with the Kindergartener encourages participation, attentive listening and fosters a rich vocabulary. Celebration of the year's festivals is also important in the annual rhythm.

These things and more contribute to the comprehensive and rich experience offered by a Rudolf Steiner/Waldorf Kindergarten.
